Trading Signals - 13 October 2026

27 trade ideas for 13 October 2026: 23 long and 4 short. Entry, stop and two targets are given for each, with the reasoning and the level at which the idea is abandoned.

Today's framework

Tuesday 13 October 2026. Today's story is the possibility that a Chinese memory maker closes the technology gap, and the first serious break it has created in the artificial intelligence trade: the Korean market fell 6%, Samsung lost 8% and SK Hynix 10%. The question is no longer the size of demand but how long today's profits last. Money is moving from the hardware side to the platform side; Meta rose 3.38% yesterday while the chip names were sold. Sizes are small ahead of tomorrow's inflation data.

Every idea on the list is medium-term and all are taken at the market. The setups are of two kinds — a pullback within an intact trend and relative strength — and each note names the one that applies.

Trade ideas

Every idea on this list is medium-term and entry is given as a band. The note under the table opens with the kind of setup the idea is.

  • 1. BTC — long. Pullback within trend. At 83,708 dollars after touching 81,034 overnight and recovering; over 24 hours 810 million dollars of positions were liquidated and 85% of those were bets on a rise. The important technical detail is this: that low is higher than last week's low of 80,400, so the price has formed a rising low. The trigger for the selling was not the crypto side but the collapse in chips in Asia. It is likely to stay in the 81,000-84,000 band ahead of tomorrow's inflation data. Action: buy in the 82,500-83,700 band, target 89,400. Invalidated if: A close below 79,760.
  • 2. ETH — long. Pullback within trend. At 2,533 dollars after touching 2,409 overnight and recovering; the weekly loss is 6.65% and momentum has approached oversold at 38. A threshold is approaching on the demand side: Bitmine bought a further 12,532 ether last week and its holding rose to 4.9% of supply, and management has said it will stop buying at 5%. So within weeks the market loses a steady buyer. Action: small buy in the 2,500-2,550 band, target 2,760. Invalidated if: A close below 2,400.
  • 3. XOM — long. Relative strength. At 172.15 dollars and up 1.90% yesterday, within 1.1% of its one-year high; the weekly gain is 4.97% and momentum is strong at 69. Energy was on the winning side on a day the chip selling hit. On Goldman's view the Russian diesel deal lowers wholesale prices by only 1 to 2 dollars, and global diesel output has been falling for seven months. Action: buy in the 170.50-172.50 band, target 182. Invalidated if: A close below 164.
  • 4. CVX — long. Relative strength. At 215 dollars and up 1.42% yesterday, within 1.3% of its one-year high; the weekly gain is 4.13% and momentum is 64. The same thesis as Exxon. The Houthis struck Riyadh airport on Saturday and the threats in Hormuz continue, so the supply risk is not resolved. Action: buy in the 213-216 band, target 226. Invalidated if: A close below 206.
  • 5. Brent Crude — long. Pullback within trend. At 105.51 dollars and close to a two-week high; the weekly gain is 5.17%. Trump's ceasefire was troubled from the start: Kyiv accused Russia of an overnight violation at the weekend. The real issue is on the supply side: Russian refinery outages are up 3 million barrels a day on a year ago and US diesel stocks have fallen 14%. The price is still 45% above its pre-war level. Action: buy in the 104.50-106.00 band, target 113. Invalidated if: A close below 99.
  • 6. WTI — long. Pullback within trend. At 92.56 dollars and 3.50% higher on the week; the spread to Brent keeps staying close to 13 dollars, which shows the shipping pressure on international oil. Momentum is healthy at 54. Action: buy in the 91.50-93.00 band, target 99. Invalidated if: A close below 87.
  • 7. META — long. Relative strength. At 742.96 dollars and with 3.38% yesterday it was the strongest large name in the market; there was buying here while chip stocks were sold. The weekly gain is 0.14% but the monthly is 14.7% and momentum is 62. This divergence is a direct expression of today's main theme: investors are not leaving artificial intelligence, they are moving from the hardware side to the platform side. Action: buy in the 738-748 band, target 800. Invalidated if: A close below 700.
  • 8. MSFT — long. Relative strength. At 541.15 dollars and up 1.14% yesterday, within 1.5% of its one-year high; the weekly gain is 3.04% and the monthly 9.18%. Momentum is at the edge of overbought at 70, so the size is small. The cloud side is not affected by the hardware selling. Action: small buy in the 538-543 band, target 575. Invalidated if: A close below 512.
  • 9. AAPL — long. Relative strength. At 340.97 dollars and up 1.29% yesterday, within 1.3% of its one-year high; the weekly gain is 2.43% and momentum is 60. Staying outside the chip supply chain debate sustains its defensive quality. Action: buy in the 338-342 band, target 362. Invalidated if: A close below 326.
  • 10. GOOGL — long. Pullback within trend. At 352.72 dollars and up 0.30% yesterday; the weekly gain is 1.80% and momentum is 57. The trend is up in every time frame and the price is above the past month's average. It is part of the strong run on the platform side. Action: buy in the 350-354 band, target 377. Invalidated if: A close below 334.
  • 11. AMZN — long. Pullback within trend. At 259.53 dollars and down 1.11% yesterday; the weekly gain is still 3.23% and momentum is 56. The price is above the past month's average, and because the cloud side rests on contracted revenue it is shielded from the hardware selling. Action: buy in the 257-261 band, target 280. Invalidated if: A close below 244.
  • 12. Gold — long. Pullback within trend. At 4,217 dollars and up 0.64% yesterday; the weekly gain is 1.46% and momentum has recovered to 41. Holding up despite rising yields is notable: safe-haven demand and the inflation worry in oil support it together. The chip selling also helps the safe-haven side. Action: buy in the 4,195-4,235 band, target 4,390. Invalidated if: A close below 4,128.
  • 13. Copper — long. Pullback within trend. At 6.7685 dollars and up 1.05% yesterday, close to record territory; the price is only 0.9% below its one-year high and momentum is 57. The trend is up in every time frame. Copper rising while chip stocks are sold shows that the demand is not tied to artificial intelligence alone. Action: buy in the 6.72-6.80 band, target 7.08. Invalidated if: A close below 6.55.
  • 14. FTSE 100 — long. Pullback within trend. At 10,656 and up 0.99% yesterday, turning the trend up; the weekly gain is 1.51% and momentum has risen to 52. The index's weighting in energy and mining works directly while oil is at 105 dollars and copper is close to a record. It is Europe's best positioned index. Action: buy in the 10,620-10,670 band, target 10,960. Invalidated if: A close below 10,442.
  • 15. S&P 500 — long. Pullback within trend. At 7,807 and it closed flat yesterday; the Dow closed higher and the Nasdaq 0.71% lower, so the divergence continues inside the index. Momentum is 59 and the price is 0.5% below its record. Four large banks report today and that will be the first broad reading of how the economy outside artificial intelligence is carrying high rates. Action: small buy in the 7,795-7,820 band, target 8,010. Invalidated if: A close below 7,730.
  • 16. Nasdaq 100 — long. Pullback within trend. At 30,665 and down 0.71% yesterday; the weekly loss is 1.32% and momentum has come down to 57. Futures are 0.6-0.77% lower this morning, so the chip selling in Asia is carrying into the US open. The direction is unclear ahead of tomorrow's inflation data. Action: small buy in the 30,550-30,700 band, target 31,450. Invalidated if: A close below 30,400.
  • 17. DAX — long. Pullback within trend. At 25,278 and up 0.76% yesterday; momentum has recovered to 48 but the trend is still mixed. European futures are 0.2% lower this morning and LVMH's weak sales weigh on the luxury sector. Action: small buy in the 25,200-25,300 band, target 25,850. Invalidated if: A close below 24,956.
  • 18. NVDA — long. Pullback within trend. At 226.32 dollars and down 1.29% yesterday; the weekly loss is 5.27% and momentum has come down to 49. The news that China has made progress in memory chips hit the whole hardware chain and this name took its share. The price sits above the 200-day average by 10.9%; the trend is intact but the pressure continues. Action: small buy in the 224-228 band, target 244. Invalidated if: A close below 218.
  • 19. AMD — long. Pullback within trend. At 594.24 dollars and a 2.28% fall yesterday took it below 600 dollars; the weekly loss is 5.94% and momentum has eased to 53. The price is just below the past month's average and it still gives a strong setup on the candidate list. With a 15.1% monthly gain the trend holds. Action: small buy in the 590-598 band, target 683. Invalidated if: A close below 535.
  • 20. SOL — long. Pullback within trend. At 108.57 dollars after falling to 101.69 overnight and recovering; the weekly loss is 10.11% and momentum is oversold at 39. The overnight low shows how far the price moved from the past month's average, but it is still above the 200-day average by 13.4% and the trend is up in every time frame. It was sold with crypto as a whole, with no negative of its own. Action: small buy in the 107-109 band, target 118. Invalidated if: A close below 101.50.
  • 21. AVAX — long. Relative strength. At 10.57 dollars after falling to 9.81 overnight and recovering; the monthly gain is still 42.8% and momentum is 49. The price sits above the 200-day average by 20.7% and it keeps outpacing bitcoin clearly over the past month, but the overnight low tested below 10 dollars and the trend is mixed. Action: small buy in the 10.40-10.60 band, target 11.80. Invalidated if: A close below 9.80.
  • 22. Silver — long. Pullback within trend. At 60.91 dollars and up 1.27% yesterday; flat on the week and momentum is 41. The price sits below the 200-day average by 6.1%, so it is following gold's recovery but the trend has not turned yet. Action: small buy in the 60.40-61.00 band, target 63.80. Invalidated if: A close below 59.50.
  • 23. USDCHF — long. Pullback within trend. At 0.8328 and up 0.18% yesterday; the trend is up in every time frame and the price is 0.6% below its one-year high. The Fed is tightening while the Swiss rate is at zero. But the dollar positioning is very crowded: speculative long positions rose from 8.4 billion dollars to 36 billion in three weeks. Action: small buy in the 0.8310-0.8335 band, target 0.8440. Invalidated if: A close below 0.8280.
  • 24. CHFJPY — short. Pullback within trend. At 190.04 and up 0.17% yesterday; the trend is down in every time frame and the price sits below the 200-day average by 2.9%. Momentum is mid-range at 43. The gap between the expectation of a rate rise in Japan and Switzerland's zero rate feeds this idea. Action: sell in the 189.90-190.30 band, target 186.50. Invalidated if: A close above 192.50.
  • 25. XRP — short. Relative strength. At 1.3735 dollars and a 2.58% fall yesterday took the weekly loss to 8.90%; momentum has approached oversold at 38 but it gives a sell setup on the candidate list, because it has fallen 10.1% behind bitcoin over the past month. The 1.40 level was rejected twice and the trend is mixed. Action: small sell in the 1.38-1.40 band, target 1.20. Invalidated if: A close above 1.4214.
  • 26. CAC 40 — short. Relative strength. At 7,833 and up 0.38% yesterday; momentum is still weak at 36 and the price sits below the 200-day average by 4.4%. The French-German bond spread is at 140 basis points and on Citi's view there is no signpost that fixes the situation in the near term. LVMH's China-driven weakness hits one of the index's weighted names directly. Action: sell in the 7,840-7,880 band, target 7,560. Invalidated if: A close above 7,950.
  • 27. Coffee — short. Pullback within trend. At 289.90 cents and down 0.24% yesterday; the monthly loss is 7.57% and the trend is down in every time frame. The price sits below the 200-day average by 8.4% and it still gives a pullback setup on the candidate list. Momentum is mid-range at 44. Action: sell in the 289-293 band, target 258. Invalidated if: A close above 311.34.
