27 trade ideas for 8 October 2026: 23 long and 4 short. Entry, stop and two targets are given for each, with the reasoning and the level at which the idea is abandoned.
Today's framework
Thursday 8 October 2026. Today's main theme is artificial intelligence companies competing with government bonds for the same pool of capital: borrowing plans from Broadcom, SpaceX and Oracle exceeding 90 billion dollars have increased the pressure on bonds and pushed SpaceX's credit risk premium to a record. Whether today's 30-year auction finds demand around 5.70% is decisive. Bitcoin has lost the 83,000 support; it is hard for this pressure to lift without Brent going below 100 dollars.
Every idea on the list is medium-term, and five of them are taken only on a pullback into the stated band. Two indices are left without a position while a level is awaited.
Trade ideas
The line under each name is the instrument symbol and every idea on this list is medium-term. Entry is given as a band; the entry condition says whether the idea is taken at the market or only on a pullback into that band.

- 1. BTC — long. At 82,860 dollars and it has slipped below the 83,000 support; around 550 million dollars of leveraged positions were liquidated the day before and most of that was a bet on a rise. The mechanism has been the same for three days: oil rises, bond yields rise, bitcoin falls. Against that the trend is up in every time frame and the price sits above the 200-day average by 11.4%, so the long-term structure is intact. The next serious support is 80,000. Action: buy on a pullback into the 80,000-81,500 band, target 91,000. Invalidated if: A close below 77,400.
- 2. ETH — long. At 2,568 dollars and it fell harder than bitcoin with a 4.38% loss on the week; the price has moved clearly below the past month's average and momentum has eased to neutral at 45, so the selling is close to exhaustion. There is a structural piece of news: Bitmine, which holds an ether treasury, said it would stop buying once its holdings reach 5% of circulating supply, and 100 thousand ether remain to that threshold, so within six or seven weeks the market loses a steady source of demand. Action: small buy in the 2,520-2,570 band, target 2,804. Invalidated if: A close below 2,410.
- 3. META — long. At 721.31 dollars and the strongest setup today: two signals are positive at once on the candidate list and it is 8.1% ahead of the index over the past month. It fell 2.38% yesterday but the trend is up in every time frame and the price is just above the past month's average. In the artificial intelligence trade the hardware side is being sold while the platform side holds; Amazon, Apple and Alphabet rose yesterday while TSM, ASML and Nvidia fell. Action: buy in the 718-728 band, target 810. Invalidated if: A close below 662.
- 4. Brent Crude — long. At 102.80 dollars and up 2.59% yesterday; two pieces of news arrived at once. Trump said at a rally in Texas that he no longer wants a deal with Iran, and according to NBC the White House asked the Pentagon for strike options. At the same time Hurricane Isaias shut 25% of US Gulf oil production and 16% of natural gas production. On the other side, crude leaving the Gulf reached 18.5 million barrels a day, its pre-war level. Action: buy, target 111. Invalidated if: A close below 95.20.
- 5. WTI — long. At 90.38 dollars and up 2.38% yesterday; the storm risk is more direct here because the halted production is in the United States. On Earth Science Associates' model the Gulf as a whole can lose 11.2 million barrels of production over the course of the storm; in July's storm that figure was 7.1 million barrels. Action: buy, target 98. Invalidated if: A close below 84.50.
- 6. Natural Gas — long. At 3.25 dollars and up 1.47% yesterday; the weekly gain of 7.4% makes it the strongest leg of the commodities side. The storm shut 16.37% of natural gas production and that is the concrete source of short-term upside risk. The price broke the past month's high. Action: buy, target 3.40. Invalidated if: A close below 2.99.
- 7. AAPL — long. At 336.67 dollars and up 0.91% yesterday, on the winning side in a falling market; the monthly gain is 6.47% and the trend is up in every time frame. Momentum is mid-range at 58, so it offers a clean entry within the trend. That it is untouched by the selling on the artificial intelligence hardware side shows its defensive quality. Action: buy, target 361. Invalidated if: A close below 320.
- 8. AMZN — long. At 259.92 dollars and up 1.42% yesterday; the weekly gain is 4.32% and volume is above average. The cloud side is a direct beneficiary of the artificial intelligence borrowing wave: most of the money raised by Broadcom, SpaceX and Oracle will go on servers and chips. Action: buy, target 278. Invalidated if: A close below 240.
- 9. MSFT — long. At 529.76 dollars and it closed flat yesterday; the weekly gain is 3.29% and the price is very close to the past month's high. Momentum has approached overbought at 68. It is the largest beneficiary of the leadership change on the software and cloud side. Action: buy on a pullback, target 567. Invalidated if: A close below 498.
- 10. SOL — long. At 115.29 dollars and down 2.74% yesterday; the monthly gain is still 11.07% and the trend is up in every time frame. The price has pulled back to the past month's average and gives a pullback-within-trend setup on the candidate list. Despite the selling across crypto it is in better shape than bitcoin. Action: buy in the 114-116 band, target 132.74. Invalidated if: A close below 103.66.
- 11. AVAX — long. At 10.86 dollars and down 3.38% yesterday; the monthly gain is 34.5% and it is 34% ahead of bitcoin over the past month, the strongest relative performance in crypto. Momentum has eased to 62, so the overbought pressure has lightened. Action: buy, target 13.36. Invalidated if: A close below 9.20.
- 12. ADA — long. At 0.2526 dollars and down 1.48% yesterday; the weekly gain is still 2.43% and the trend is mixed. The price is just below the past month's average. Momentum is mid-range at 58. Action: buy, target 0.2950. Invalidated if: A close below 0.2420.
- 13. S&P 500 — long. At 7,801 and down 0.22% yesterday; it pulled back slightly from its record but the weekly gain is 1.96%. The real point of interest is small companies: the Russell 2000 fell 1.31%, twice the index's loss, so rising rates keep hitting the most fragile segment. Action: buy, target 8,030. Invalidated if: A close below 7,728.
- 14. Nasdaq 100 — long. At 31,160 and down 0.21% yesterday; the weekly gain is 2.47% and the price is 0.6% below its record. Momentum is close to overbought at 68. The 30-year bond auction is today and a weak result hits the technology side directly. Action: buy, target 32,050. Invalidated if: A close below 30,798.
- 15. CAC 40 — short. At 7,769 and down 1.22% yesterday; momentum is deep in oversold territory at 28 and it is 5.3% behind the index over the past month. France's fiscal risk is now spreading to Italy and Greece, and the central bank governor having to tell investors that no European Central Bank help is needed is not a good sign. Action: sell, target 7,496; with momentum at an extreme, the approach to the target should be taken in stages. Invalidated if: A close above 7,917.
- 16. NVDA — long. At 237.47 dollars and down 0.74% yesterday; the weekly gain is still 3.98% and the price is 2.4% below its one-year high. The artificial intelligence borrowing wave helps this company over the long run, but in the short run the circularity debate weighs: chip makers are financing the buyers of their own products. Action: buy, target 258. Invalidated if: A close below 228.
- 17. GOOGL — long. At 350.50 dollars and up 0.81% yesterday; the trend is up and the price is at the past month's high. It is one of the names benefiting from the divergence on the platform side. Action: buy, target 378.50. Invalidated if: A close below 325.
- 18. AMD — long. At 645.86 dollars and down 0.55% yesterday; it is 21% ahead of the index over the past month and the monthly gain is 27.7%. Momentum is at the edge of overbought at 71 and the price is 1.9% below its one-year high. It still gives a strong setup on the candidate list but chasing it from this level is expensive. Action: buy on a pullback, target 733. Invalidated if: A close below 587.
- 19. TSM — long. At 472.20 dollars and among the worst of the chip side with a 2.09% fall yesterday; the weekly gain is still 3.51% and it is 8% ahead of the index over the past month. Despite Samsung's record profit, chip stocks were sold in Asia and the Korean index fell 2.05%. This divergence on the hardware side calls for attention. Action: buy on a pullback, target 521. Invalidated if: A close below 452.
- 20. ASML — long. At 1,804.96 dollars and down 1.59% yesterday; it has fallen three days running and the weekly loss is 0.37%. Equipment makers depend on the longest-dated investment decisions, and with yields staying high the question marks on this side are growing. The price has moved below the past month's average. Action: a buy on a pullback is considered. Invalidated if: A close below 1,736.
- 21. XOM — long. At 164.05 dollars and down 0.26% yesterday; with oil up 2.59% the stock staying flat is notable and shows that energy stocks no longer fully reflect the oil rally. The trend is still up. Action: buy, target 177. Invalidated if: A close below 155.
- 22. CVX — long. At 205.15 dollars and down 1.17% yesterday; Chevron said it is curtailing offshore operations, which means a short-term loss of production. The same thesis as Exxon but more directly exposed to the storm. Action: buy, target 217. Invalidated if: A close below 199.50.
- 23. CHFJPY — short. At 189.78 and down 0.19% yesterday; the trend is down in every time frame and the price is below the past month's average. The Bank of Japan may signal this month that the inflation target has been reached while the Swiss rate is at zero; the rate gap is closing in the yen's favour. Action: sell, target 185.64. Invalidated if: A close above 192.96.
- 24. USDCHF — long. At 0.8332 and up 0.13% yesterday; the trend is up and the price is 0.6% below its one-year high. The Fed is tightening while the Swiss rate is at zero. Action: buy, target 0.8420. Invalidated if: A close below 0.8278.
- 25. Copper — long. At 6.6985 dollars and up 1.55% yesterday; the weekly gain is 2.13% and the price is only 1.9% below its one-year high. Copper rising while precious metals fall shows that industrial demand works independently of rates; artificial intelligence infrastructure investment is a direct source of demand for this metal. Action: buy, target 7.01. Invalidated if: A close below 6.40.
- 26. Palladium — short. At 1,139 dollars and up 2.05% yesterday but with a 5.19% loss on the week; the trend is down in every time frame and momentum is oversold at 27. With momentum at an extreme there is a risk of a bounce. Action: sell, target 1,100; momentum is at an extreme, so the approach to the target should be taken in stages. Invalidated if: A close above 1,240.
- 27. Coffee — short. At 293.90 cents and up 0.41% yesterday; the monthly loss is 7.71% and the trend is down in every time frame. It still gives a pullback-within-trend setup on the candidate list. Action: sell, target 257. Invalidated if: A close above 318.44.
Considered, not taken
Instruments that were reviewed for this list and left without a trade, with the reason.
| Instrument | Side | Why it was not taken |
|---|---|---|
| DAX | Wait | At 25,104 and down 1.35% yesterday; there was heavy selling across Europe, with Italy down 2.51% and Spain 1.68%. The cause is the bond side: the worry about France is spreading to Italy and Greece, and Italy's spread to Germany has widened from 80 basis points to 130 in a month. No position; entry requires a daily close above 25,400. |
| FTSE 100 | Wait | At 10,458 and down 0.79% yesterday; it touched 10,445 intraday. Momentum is weak at 37 and the trend is mixed. No position; a recovery requires a close above 10,600. |
